The uterus is the tubular organ that hosts the developing fetuses during pregnancy. Another name for the uterus is womb. The uterus is connected to the vagina by the cervix, a sphincter that opens and closes the passage into the uterus.

The benefits of spaying is to remove the female hormone estrogen, preventing heat cycles and breeding; prevents pregnancy; prevents female medical diseases such as ovarian and uterine cancer; reduces the chances of mammary cancer and prevents unwanted kittens, which usually end up in overcrowded shelters.

You might be asking, "Why would I want to have my female kitten's uterus and ovaries removed?Nature put them there, why should I have them taken out?" The most obvious advantage is that she will not go into heat, and she cannot breed or get pregnant.
