DETAILS Vero Beach, on Florida's east coast about 150 miles north of Miami, is split by the Indian River, part of the Intracoastal Waterway, into mainland and island sections. This project, on the island fronting the Atlantic, consists of a four-story, 83-suite condominium hotel. The one-to-three-bedroom units, which owners may place in a rental program to serve as hotel rooms, will be sold furnished and will range from 565 to 2,000 square feet. Details include mahogany furniture, Jerusalem stone floors and balconies or terraces. The restaurant and the spa will open with the second phase of construction; the first phase had a beach club, a swimming pool and a poolside bar and grill. Residents will have access to a nearby private golf club. The Dodgers Major League Baseball team has held its spring training in Vero Beach since 1948. For air service, the Palm Beach, Orlando and Melbourne airports are within an hour and a half of the development.

DETAILS In Playas del Coco on the northwestern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, this 175-acre gated project will consist of at least 232 condominiums, 40 town houses, 22 houses and 126 homesites. Construction began in 2006, and the first 46 two-to-three-bedroom condominiums and 10 four-bedroom town houses are expected to be ready this summer. All the residences will be Mediterranean style with clay-tiled roofs; some will have balconies or terraces. Owners will be able to enter their residences in a rental program. The development's beach club, which offers water sports activities, swimming pools and a restaurant, opened recently. Its spa, in a separate building with a fitness center, should open next year. At the entrance to the development will be an area that will include boutiques, an art gallery, a grocery store, a tour company and an interior design studio. The international airport in Liberia is only about 20 minutes away; flights arrive there from American cities including Newark, Miami, Atlanta and Houston.
